Kwantlen Faculty Association Issues Statement of Support

KFA Memo to the KPU Task Force on Antiracism
The KFA is delighted to hear that KPU is committed to addressing racialized discrimination in our workplace, and to that end has established the Task Force on Antiracism (TFA).
The KFA has also identified anti-racism as a primary aspect of our work this year. Like the provincial and national organizations that we are members of, including the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators (FPSE), the BC Federation of Labour, and numerous other organizations that we are affiliated with, the KFA is committed to working to fight racism in our workplace.
The KFA looks forward to learning more about the TFA's work, and working directly and collaboratively with the TFA in our shared commitment to learn about the barriers that BIPOC employees face at KPU, to implement policy changes and employment practices that are centered on anti-racism, and to improve language in our collective agreement that reflects what we learn as a result of our efforts. As part of this work, we hope the KFA and TFA will acknowledge and build upon the efforts of faculty who have worked, some for decades, to develop anti-racist initiatives at KPU.
