Moodle Share Open Forum

If there are not many collaborative online activities, then perhaps Moodle Forum would be your best option

Moodle plug in Lightbox
(For photo sharing Lightbox might be a safe option that protects students’ privacy. Very often in COIL students will default to social media platforms that are comfortable and less safe.

Collaboration/Interaction

Padlet

Padlet is an online collaborative platform that allows users to create and share vibrant and collaborative digital bulletin boards, also known as “walls.” It enables individuals or groups to collaborate, organize ideas, and share multimedia content in a visual and interactive way. Users can add various types of content to their Padlet walls, such as text, images, videos, documents, and links. This flexible tool can be used for a wide range of purposes, including brainstorming, collecting feedback, organizing information, presenting content, and fostering collaborative discussions.

  1. Padlet does not need to be downloaded or installed. Sign in with the “Log in with Microsoft option” here:  https://kpu.padlet.org/
  1. If you choose to give your students a QR code, this could be the quickest and safest option for you and your class to participate, as students only need to have access to a smartphone with a camera and will not need to input any personal information to join. Please be sure that your external partners have the same technological accessibility as the home institution. COIL pedagogy prioritizes understanding the context/realities of other counties/cultures. Be sure that: students have comparable technology when deciding on platforms and technologies, there are no firewalls, that there is broadband internet available etc. This can be done in the planning phase of COIL with a partnering instructor/institution. If these things are considered, there is a higher chance of transformative and inclusive learning.
  1. You should already have a premium license allowing for more than 3 Padlets to be created. Contact IT if you were given a basic license instead.
