The app allows you to share a webpage or PDF document with the Hypothesis sidebar automatically added within the LMS. Add an activity<\/b><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"a-select-the-link-to-add-an-activity-or-resource\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;a. In the \u201cAdd an activity\u201d window, select \u201cExternal tool\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><u>Note<\/u>: The Hypothesis app may be configured to appear directly in the activity list below. If so, you can select it directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.wordpress.kpu.ca\/hypothesis\/files\/2021\/09\/3-moodle_add_external_tool-1024x951-1-768x713.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2c. Configure your activity for a Hypothesis reading<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n<p><strong>Activity name:&nbsp;<\/strong>This should be something specific to the assignment, like \u201cDidion reading\u201d or \u201cAnnotate Baldwin poem\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/li><li>\n<p><strong>Preconfigured tool:<\/strong>&nbsp;Select&nbsp;<strong>Hypothesis<\/strong>&nbsp;from the drop-down.&nbsp;<em>Note: You may not need to complete this step if either a) your campus Moodle administrator has installed the Hypothesis app for you or b) the tool has been configured to be chosen from the activity dropdown.<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d242fdlp0qlcia.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2019\/11\/01132258\/Moodle-9.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/d242fdlp0qlcia.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/2019\/11\/01132258\/Moodle-9.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n<p><strong>Tool URL:&nbsp;<\/strong>Leave blank<\/p>\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><strong>To enable grading (optional):<\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n<p>Under&nbsp;<strong>Privacy,&nbsp;<\/strong>make sure \u201cAccept grades from the tool\u201d is checked. <u>NOTE<\/u>: KPU sets the privacy levels on a global level and are enabled by default. Hypothesis grades are given out on a percentage basis, but Moodle will not create the activity itself if the maximum grade is not acceptable. As such, the score in Hypothesis should never be set above 100.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click the button to&nbsp;<strong>Save and display.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-configure-the-hypothesis-reading\"><strong>3. Configure the Hypothesis reading<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on how the activity has been configured (Launch Container setting), the Hypothesis reading will either open immediately (embedded in the active window), or you will see a link to&nbsp;<strong>Open in a new window<\/strong>. If you see this link, click to open the reading in a new tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.wordpress.kpu.ca\/hypothesis\/files\/2021\/09\/3a-moodle_open_in_new_window-1024x306-1-768x230.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You will have the option to enter a publicly-viewable URL (See&nbsp;<strong>Step 3A<\/strong>) or to add a PDF from Google Drive (See&nbsp;<strong>Step 3B<\/strong>). The screen will look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.wordpress.kpu.ca\/hypothesis\/files\/2021\/09\/3b-lti_content_source-768x301.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the button that says<strong>&nbsp;Enter the URL of web page or PDF<\/strong>. On the&nbsp;<strong>Enter URL<\/strong>&nbsp;dialog, enter a link to a public web page or PDF. Please note that the content at the link must be publicly viewable (i.e., not behind a login or paywall).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click&nbsp;<strong>Submit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.wordpress.kpu.ca\/hypothesis\/files\/2021\/09\/enter_url-768x352.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><b>IMPORTANT:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PDFs must have optically recognizable text&nbsp;in order to be annotatable in the Hypothesis app. If you can select text in the PDF, no further action is needed. If you can\u2019t select text in the PDF, you\u2019ll need to follow our instructions for&nbsp;<a style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #333300;\" href=\"https:\/\/web.hypothes.is\/help\/how-to-ocr-optimize-pdfs\/\">how to OCR-optimize a PDF<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After selecting the URL or PDF for your assignment, you may need to refresh the page, or close and re-open the assignment, before you can start annotating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.wordpress.kpu.ca\/hypothesis\/files\/2021\/09\/Hypothesis-name-big-768x460.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-confirm-the-hypothesis-reading-loads\"><strong>4.
