Inclusive Communities, Sustainable Futures
Course: POST 1200
Instructor: Jennifer Hardwick
One-sentence summary:
Students walk around the campus and document physical spaces and services, and share things that improved inclusion and those that were barriers to inclusion.
Beginning with questions such as “Are there barriers to becoming part of the KPU community?” and “Are there barriers to accessing campus resources?” students are invited to explore the campus. They focus on physical spaces, services (food, library, bookstore, etc.), make use of an online service (library, booking an appointment, etc.) and reflect on their own experiences applying to KPU and figuring out systemic processes. They document via photographs, recordings, and notes and share their findings on inclusion at KPU with the class. Then they consider how these barriers could be addressed.
