At KPU we are excited to offer three options available for faculty and students to use for virtual classes, office hours, and group interactions. Each of these provides unique features listed below, allowing you to select the best tool for you, your students and your learning outcomes. The tools available for video conferencing are BigBlueButton, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

Guidelines for Use of Video Conferencing for Teaching & Learning
Depending on how it is used and what functions are activated, videoconferencing raises different kinds of privacy and data security questions and concerns. Users are advised to be mindful of the many ways that personal information and/or other confidential information may be collected, created or shared within the platform and ensure that this is done in accordance with these guidelines and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of BC (“FIPPA”).

Use Big Blue Button
Big Blue Button is a web conferencing tool for educators that is integrated with Moodle to provide instructors with tools for teaching online.

Use Zoom
Zoom is a web conferencing tool that has been procured for both teaching and learning environments and student-to-student collaborations.

Use Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a video conferencing platform offered by IT Services. Since launch, it has now moved to Canadian data residency, allowing increased use of this space with students. (Access to Resource requires login.)
