Tips and Tricks

Things to consider before recording

Think About

Your Outfit

  • Avoid wearing black (unless you want a floating head). Any black colour will be keyed out.
  • Avoid wearing bright colours (like orange or yellow).
  • Avoid wearing shirts with too much pattern going on.
  • Recommended to wear pale and neutral colours (like blue, grey, red) to make yourself separate from the background.

Consider

Keeping It Short

  • Record in small segments. You can always piece it together later with Camtasia.
  • There is a Pause feature, which will help you erase board before going to the next topic/slide.
  • If you are editing video, leave room at beginning and end to make it easier to edit.
  • Plan your lesson, what media you will use, and when you will draw on the lightboard.

Integrating

Presentation Slides

You have the ability to use presentation slides with the lightboard just as you are in the classroom. Learn more.

Trying out

The Markers

There are two types of markers, one specifically made for writing on glass and one that is like using a whiteboard marker. Both works well. You may want to practice before recording. Leave room for yourself, so you are not writing over yourself.

To reduce squeak, press lightly on the marker. Ensure you wipe down the board (with glass cleaner) once you are finished.
