The UN SDGs & KPU
KPU is one of a handful of B.C. post-secondary institutions to sign on to the SDG Accord, a global movement which commits higher education institutions to deliver on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), report on progress and share learning.
KPU’s Vision 2026 [PDF] B1 Goal is to “foster cultural, social and environmental sustainability through our offerings, research and operations. Progress on this goal will be made by… implementing KPU’s Sustainability Plan to advance sustainability performance and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals” (KPU VISION 2026, 2023, p. 5).

KPU SDG Mapping Project
In 2022, KPU initiated the SDG Mapping Project which identified connections between the SDGs and KPU’s initiatives ranging from courses, programs, and services, to research, policies, and operations.
UN SDG Open Pedagogy Fellowship
KPU faculty join inter-institutional, cross-disciplinary teams to create renewable assignments aimed at encouraging students become agents of change in their own communities.
UN SDG Community of Practice
The UN SDGs Community of Practice (CoP) serves as an inclusive and collaborative space where KPU faculty, staff, and students can learn from and engage with each other.
UN SDG Champions
KPU Teaching & Learning supports faculty to champion the advancement of UNSDG initiatives within their faculty/departments. These champions collaborate with their colleagues to support the implementation of UNSDG initiatives in their programs.
UN SDG Week Canada
SDG Week Canada was a national collaboration that took place from March 4-8, 2024 featuring workshops, panels, and other interactive programming to increase awareness of and engagement with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on university and college campuses.
