Introduction to Logan Creek <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logan Creek is a small stream that flows along the south corridor of KPU Langley. Coho salmon swim here to reach Walmart! Invasive species such as Himalayan blackberry disturbs the local biodiversity around this creek. Kathy Dunster and KPU Horticulture spearhead numerous projects to help restore these lands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

KPU Horticulture students have identified and described Indigenous plants located in, and around, this creek. This project, termed the ‘Logan Creek Decolonization Project Journal,’ provides an English common name, a scientific name, and a H\u01ddn\u0313q\u0313\u01ddmin\u0313\u01ddm\u0313<\/em> dialect name for the plants. This dialect is used by the x\u02b7m\u0259\u03b8k\u02b7\u0259y\u0313\u0259m <\/em>(Musqueam), the People of the River Grass. See the table of the Indigenous plants at Logan Creek below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logan Creek is home to various plant and animal species. Examples of animal species include coho salmon, cutthroat trout, Western pearlshell mussel, and stickleback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
